Plea as Harecroft Methodist Church, Wilsden, is forced to close

Can you help keep the wolf from the door?

Julie’s humorous article The 8th wonder of the world shows something of the frustration felt by Julie as manager of the village hall and shared by the management committee. Funding the village hall has become a real and serious concern to those of us involved with the running of the hall. The hall is beginning to show its age. After 36 years of wear and tear, the upkeep and maintenance of the building gets greater and the bills get bigger. The roof springs a leak, the boiler blows, the oven burns out. You know what it’s like at home – just when you think everything is sorted, a big bill lands on your doormat. In these austere times no one needs to be told money is tight. But sadly money, or rather the lack of it, is a big worry.

Wilsden Community Library was officially opened by Baroness Margaret Eaton on 3 April followed by a celebration buffet in the Village Hall.

The 8th wonder of the world

I have finally discovered the eighth wonder of the world and it’s been here in our village for over thirty years. It is a brick construction central to the village and very near the park.

Renewed lease of life for Wilsden library
